Dark Vektor vs. The Blotnik Brothers – The Bass Academy Vol. 1

Since its inception in 2000, French Fdb Recordings has given us regular rendezvous with the very best of Electro, and each one is always a surprising event we don’t want to miss.

Following Model Citizens 2014’s classic “The Loud Minority EP”, Vstee’s imprint, in association with Parisian Toolbox Records shop, returns with another collectible EP of its trademark. The already essential “The Bass Academy Vol.1″, which has to be seen as Professor Xavier’s school, introduces a hopefully long series of masterpieces for the posterity featuring forgotten and heavyweight Electro teachers.

The inaugural 12” sees on A-Side the remarkable come back of too rare Dark Vektor (Subsonic Device, Titan’s Halo Recordings). Author of the memorable “Basscelona – City Of Bass EP” six years ago on Fdb Recordings, the Hispanic veteran offers today a milestone of an Electro Funk piece! Engaging hostilities on a powerful rhythm, devastating “Univers De Desitg” song quickly deploys a lethal arsenal made of old school beats, low frequencies, and dirty vocoder lyrics in Spanish. Astonishing 808 drums plus infectious melodies will achieve to put you in a circle. Simple, efficient. In a word…ace!

The flipside celebrates the unexpected yet incredible return of Swedish trio The Blotnik Brothers. Mainly two successful EP’s, and one highly acclaimed full length player on New York based Satamile Records propelled them under the spotlights in the mid 00’s but since then, we had lost their transmissions. Now they’re back stronger than never and when it comes to rocking a crowd, The Blotnik Brothers always come on point!

Kicking off with a solid groove and strong beats, mind-blowing “I See You” signs an ode to the dancefloor, and will remind in a way one of their previous and most successful classics “Electro Manifesto (Beats On Demand)” from 2004. After all those years, Martin Rasberg, Roberto Mensa and Patrick Casey didn’t loose hand behind machines and demonstrate we can still count on their talent and creativity.

No need to say it, “The Bass Academy Vol.1 “, cut by Simon @ The Exchange in London, is a must have for every fan of pure Electro with roots from the past and spirit focused onto the future! Limited to 150 copies coming with a hand made printed sleeve. Watch out for Vol.2 coming out sometime this year with two big Electro signatures. They remain secret for now but I can already tell you you won’t believe it.
